Business was brisk at the Tame Otter!

Springnats #13 unlucky for some but not for this show, after last years damp affair the changes for this show certainly made a big change for the better.

After long negotiations with Drayton manor Park management, we were eventually in a position to offer free entry to the p[ark to all weekend participants, and what a great saving that is!

The upper campsite was extended onto the flat grassed area behind and the show n shine area was moved to the all new showfield at the bottom of the hill, all this added up to one hell of a Rod Run.
The show officially starts on the Friday, but as always some eager Rodders arrived on the Thursday to make the most of the weekend.

Shaun and crew had made a great job of the new colour programs, which were being snapped up rapidly.

By Friday night the campsite was almost full, with plenty of people making use of the extended campsite. The Bar as always was as busy as hell, but missed the antics of our very own Kultural Attaché, Yoda.

Dummy stacks or real??

Saturday morning saw the café full of hung over Rodders eating Breakfast and trying to remember who they had to apologies to first from the night before.

The cruise was marshalled by the HRG who did a great job as usual, and took us back to the Tame Otter once again, were everyone could just chill out next to the canal, have a bite to eat and a pint (or two).

Saturday night in the Tower ballroom was fit to bursting with the Disco and fantastic band the Reservoir Cats rockin’ the night away.

Once again the Sunday morning brought the café almost to a standstill with everyone trying to make themselves feel better over Breakfast. The showfield opened at 9am which started to fill, with some beautiful debut cars, and by midday it was almost full, the new showfield is such an improvement over the last one which had a road running through the centre of it! At Midday the TotRods went of on a cruise into the park for lunch, and as they have already had a year or two’s practise in looking cool in their Tot Rods, they must surely reach new highs in coolness when they can eventually drive their Dads Hot Rods!!!

Prize giving was at 4.30pm, and a big thank you to the judges for doing a great job.

Coooooooll!

For me, the show saw many high points, as an organiser the changes worked well and can be bettered again next year, but on a personal level the high point has to be Nigel Lockley actually driving his Zipper style 32 around the Drayton roadways with a grin as big as a mile, well done mate.

If you didn’t make Drayton this year, check out some pictures from the show on the NASC website and we’ll see you all there in 2006.
